Rita Sokolowski: A little update

Hello Clairdee,

I was reading your mailbag today and I thought you'd let me share a very sad story, that I believe in the end will have a happy ending. After reading about the Thomas Family, I wrote you about my sister, Irene, and her new son, Ben, that you featured in your mailbag. They are doing wonderfully, and I met Ben when I was in Sacramento at the beginning of September.

How fast life can change for us. Since that time, after almost becoming empty nesters from raising their own 5 children, my brother, Frank, and his wife are now raising five children, ages 3 – 10 yrs. The youngest of the children, Alise, has cerebral palsy. This is a big challenge for all of us, but one that our whole family is up to, even me, all this distance away (Colorado). I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful family. My mom is looking down from heaven, thrilled that two of her children have saved families from being separated, and that all seven of her kids are working to give these kids a wonderful life.
